As an educator, visual artist, and writer, I want to explore the relationship between what is hidden and what is known. I long for truth, but I also wonder how mystery shapes us. Why don’t we lean into its fruitful complexity more often? Perhaps the path that is pursuing a certain end is not always as “linear” as our assumptions often make it to be.

From this central idea, my work revolves around moments of discovery, becoming, inner wrestling, and the narratives or places that frame them. I play with line, composition, and text to create images that reflect my immediate surroundings or imagination—images which also seep into my writing.

Detail from Welcome Home, Weary Traveler, 2019

I studied studio art in Southern California before moving to Scotland for postgraduate studies. While abroad, I was incredibly fortunate to study alongside a community of artists (representing various mediums), theologians, philosophers, and historians, all of whom greatly shaped my understanding of artistry and the meaning of making. Colorado Springs is my current home, where I teach art and art history classes to middle and high school students, drink tea, play pickleball (yup—another millennial who recently discovered how cool it actually is), and try to scribble something down every now and then.
